1 Day Private Taste of The Tablelands - Cairns Food Tour Series

The Day begins with a scenic drive from Cairns to the Tablelands, through the rich Wet Tropics Rainforests of the Johnstone River Valley. You will be flanked by spectacular rolling green hills of the Dairy Farms, as we make our way to our first stop: Lake Barrine Tea House.

Lake Barrine boasts an abundance of natural Australian beauty and features a quaint timber heritage tea house perched on the edge of the crystal clear waters of the lake and nestled amongst lush tropical rainforest. Sample the Devonshire Tea, consisting of locally grown leaves served with the famous secret recipe Scones – going back four generations. 

Following Lake Barrine Teahouse, we make our way through the Atherton Tablelands and stop off at Millaa Millaa Waterfall – a spectacular heritage-listed 18m plunge Waterfall, one of the most famous for its beauty in Australia. This is a short stop, perfect for a photo opportunity before heading out for lunch at Mungalli Creek Dairy Farm. Here you will taste some of the best local biodynamic cheeses Far North Queensland has to offer and enjoy the spectacular rolling hill scenery of the Atherton Tablelands.

The ultimate farm gate experience – visit Gallo Dairyland to sample the most beautiful, delicately hand crafted chocolate made from the finest Swiss couverture. Delicious!

Next stop is Shaylee’s Strawberries, where the rich red volcanic soil and temperate weather conditions are just right for the cultivation of large succulent Strawberries. Indulge in a farm fresh Strawberry Milkshake before optional souvenir shopping at Humpy Nut World – home to samples from the Tablelands region.

The afternoon will be spent nestled within a beautiful banana plantation at Mt Uncle Distillery – where you will be sampling Award Winning premium Spirits and Liqueurs. Utilizing crops grown in the fertile soil of the Atherton Tablelands, and ingredients sourced directly from the Mt Uncle Farm – this is an authentic Taste of the Tablelands.

Discover a feast for all your senses at Coffee Works, Mareeba, on the Atherton Tablelands. You will enjoy exceptional Australian coffee, browse gorgeous gifts and perhaps indulge in the optional gourmet experiences all in one delicious location.

Our final tasting experience for the day will be at Emerald Creek Ice Creamery – with over 40 flavours available, made on site using pure cream and farm fresh milk. A day of delights from paddock to plate.
